101o in Riverside today. Kinda makes me glad I'm only outside for about 60 seconds, walking from the hospital to my car.

Action Adventure
- Kingdom Hearts II (PS2)****
The Disney art is fantastic, and I love the anime look of everyone. The story is interesting and complex, but does require knowledge of Chain of Memories (GBA). Unchallenging, yet fast and fun gameplay. - Shadow Hearts: Covenant (PS2)****
Better than the 1st one. The Judgment ring is more customizable and fun to tinker with. An enjoyable RPG that doesn't take itself too seriously, with a bizarre cast of characters and oft irreverent humor. - Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams (PS2)***1/2
Fun rental, good graphics. The combat mechanics get stale after a few hours, not as varied or as fun as in God of War. Option for original Japanese voices a definite plus! - Shadow Hearts (PS2)***1/2
Released back in 2001, it's a pretty decent RPG. Timed button presses during combat add a new level of strategic depth. I loved the Chinese mythology setting in the 1st half, more than the Western occult in the 2nd. Campy dialogue. - Resident Evil 4 (PS2)*****
2005 Game of the Year. Genre-defining, hands down the best horror-themed game ever. Definitely in my top 3 games of all time. - Dragon Quest VIII (PS2)***1/2
Unremarkable turn-based RPG. Beautifully drawn by Akira Toriyama. Well-voiced PCs with memorable personalities. But silent protagonist and repetitive music seriously detract from the overall experience. - Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask (GC)*1/2
Fewer bosses (only 4), frustrating 3D environmental puzzles, and a wholly uninteresting plot (nothing to do with Zelda or Ganon!). Tedious. - Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (GC)***
I am not a big fan of 3D environmental puzzles, one reason I feel the Zelda series has gone downhill since A Link to the Past. Still, it revolutionized 3D gaming, so 3 stars. - Shadow of the Colossus (PS2)***
Great sense of atmosphere. Fighting screen-filling colossi is awe-some. Unfortunately, gameplay starts to feel stale 75% of the way through. - Indigo Prophecy (PS2)***
Great story-telling via cinematographic gameplay. The first 2/3 of the game gets 5 stars, but the last 1/3 feels rushed and ultimately ruins the final game. - God of War (PS2)****1/2
Fun variety-filled combat, beautifully animated monsters and backdrops ripped from the pages of Greek mythology, terrific anti-hero story arc. Rousing orchestral music. One of the best action adventure games ever for the PS2.
